Responsible liquor service

In Alberta, we all have a role to play in being socially responsible.

For AGLC, being responsible means providing policies, regulations, programs and the tools needed to educate and raise awareness for all Albertans on the responsible use of liquor.

For liquor providers

For our industry partners, being responsible means not only complying with legislation, but going the extra mile to ensure the highest standards of safety and service meets and exceeds the needs of the public.

Our resources for liquor providers can help you encourage healthy liquor use:

  • Posters and brochures
  • We encourage you to check out the DrinkSense website to learn more about responsible consumption.
  • Best Bar None is an accreditation program that raises standards and celebrates venues for striving to provide patrons an enjoyable and safer night out.
  • SADD Alberta in partnership with AGLC has implemented a liquor bag campaign, whereby Alberta students of all ages can add their personal message on the dangers of impaired driving to a paper liquor bag.  This activity assists educators in continuing the conversation about the dangers of drinking and driving.

For the public

For the public, being responsible means every adult Albertan makes informed choices when consuming alcohol and takes an active role in creating a safe and social drinking culture that will reduce the harms related to the over consumption of alcohol.
