Charitable Gaming Review

In early 2019, Alberta Gaming, Liquor & Cannabis (AGLC) started a review of the province's charitable gaming model.

This review will help inform decisions about how the model can be updated and strengthened to ensure that Albertans and their communities benefit from charitable gaming proceeds. This is the first significant review since 2010.

The review will focus on key areas raised by organizations in the past several years, such as:

  • Eligibility criteria for charitable organizations;
  • Charitable organizations’ use of proceeds from gaming events;
  • Volunteer requirements in traditional casinos; and
  • Distribution of charitable gaming proceeds from charitable casino events.

The review started in January 2019 and included an online survey. Moving forward, the review will be open to all Albertans and begin in mid-2019. Anyone interested in having their voice heard about charitable gaming in Alberta is welcome to submit feedback.
